Julie & Pat's Summer Wedding — Woodborough Hall

Julie & Pat’s wedding was one of those rare days where rain only made everything warmer. Held at Woodborough Hall in Nottinghamshire in September, their celebration felt like a gathering of hearts — full of family closeness, joy, and deep laughter.

The skies stayed grey, but inside it was all warmth — hugs, hand squeezes, and quiet, unposed moments that say everything. Looking back, it’s still one of the happiest weddings I’ve photographed.

Though Julie & Pat’s day took place outside Yorkshire, I brought the same documentary approach I use as a Leeds wedding photographer — honest, heartfelt, and unposed.

Wedding Morning at Woodborough Hall — Natural Moments in the Bridal Suite

The wedding morning at Woodborough Hall in Nottinghamshire began quietly in the red-walled bridal suite, with soft window light and no need for posed direction. Every detail was captured naturally — honest moments, beautifully lit, and gently unfolding.

Julie and her young daughter shared time by the mirror in black and white, full of calm affection. Little stories bloomed around them — a playful leg kicked up against the pastel wall, makeup help from Julie’s sister, a tiny champagne toast, and a twirl caught in the glass. No fuss, just a room full of character, closeness, and quiet storytelling moments.

This is natural wedding photography at its most personal — letting the light, love, and real connections speak for themselves, captured by a Nottinghamshire wedding photographer with a storytelling approach.

To photograph candid moments that will remain timeless, my personality and approach is calm and professional always.

Posed by the mirror, and then below doing a twirl.
Without being too technical,
slowing down the shutter speed captured the movement perfectly.
Capturing the little ones is an special part of the story
— I always find myself so welcome and this makes the job so much fun.

A Ceremony Full of Feeling — Laughter, Vows & a Veil Tease

Julie and Pat’s wedding ceremony at Woodborough Hall was relaxed, lighthearted, and full of love — perfectly capturing the warmth of their day.

From the moment it started, Pat’s smile said it all. Soft glances, a heartfelt ring exchange, and a tender kiss reflected their genuine connection. Even signing the register brought laughter — not a formality, but another shared moment of joy.

After walking back down the aisle, their daughter reached playfully for Julie’s veil, just out of reach. A tiny, unposed moment that added even more authenticity to the day.

These are the moments I treasure as a natural wedding photographer — capturing honest, storytelling images and the in-between gestures that make every wedding unique, whether in Leeds, Yorkshire, or beyond.

A wonderful couple, I trust you can see their personality in my photographic style.

Calm, Natural Family Group Photos at Woodborough Hall

With rain still gently falling outside, we moved indoors for relaxed family group shots upstairs at Woodborough Hall, creating natural, storytelling portraits.

Dark wood floors, long draping curtains, a gold-framed mirror, and vintage white furniture provided a calm, elegant backdrop. Nothing formal — just genuine smiles, gentle nudges, and quiet chats to bring out real personalities. Their daughter added extra charm, popping in for hugs and sweet, candid moments that say more than any posed photo could.

My aim with group photography is always to keep things relaxed, authentic, and full of character — portraits that feel like family, not staged formality, perfect for couples in Leeds, Yorkshire, or beyond.

Honest, Natural Couple Portraits at Woodborough Hall

No pressure, no posing — just time for Julie and Pat to breathe, laugh, and be fully themselves.

In a quiet upstairs room, soft light through the grand window highlighted their easy connection. Julie’s energy and Pat’s warmth shone through every glance and laugh between shots. These portraits capture who they truly are, not just how they look.

Just before the rain returned, we stepped outside for one last image — the lush grass vibrant, Woodborough Hall in the background, and one simple kiss in the soft drizzle. A favourite, quietly encapsulating their day.

Wedding Breakfast Moments at Woodborough Hall — Sparklers, Speeches & Chocolate Strawberry Cake

The room glowed — not just from candles and sparklers, but from the warmth and joy shared by everyone at the top table.

Julie and Pat’s chocolate wedding cake, adorned with fresh strawberries, looked almost too good to cut. Impromptu family photos, heartfelt hugs, and playful moments (Julie’s dad sneaking in a joke or two) made the morning unforgettable.

Speeches were genuine and full of laughter — moments of pride, a few happy tears, and the perfect hush just before applause. Everything captured naturally, preserving the real emotion and connections of the day.

Evening Reception at Woodborough Hall — Cake, Guests & First Dance Full of Joy

Julie and Pat cut their wedding cake with a kiss — no fuss, just laughter and a moment held close, perfectly capturing the warmth of the evening.

As more guests arrived, the atmosphere grew lively and spontaneous. I wandered with my camera, catching impromptu groups, hugs at the bar, and quiet mid-conversation smiles that tell the real story of the day.

Then came the first dance — unchoreographed, completely joyful, and full of the kind of energy that only comes when two people are exactly where they’re meant to be. Natural moments, captured beautifully at Woodborough Hall.

The candid photos above and below in Black and White are so full of personality and are loved by the couple
